The African brother of Al Green and Tracy Chapman

Oumar Thiam (v, g)

Performs Solo or with his band

FIRST ALBUM TO BE RELEASED IN 2010

Outstanding native English singer from Sierra Leone now based in Paris whose voice has the flavour of Motown icons, Oumar Thiam is part of this new trend of an acoustic folk Nu Soul music style primarely based on authenticity and emotion.

Whenever he's performing solo with his guitar or along with his band, he sounds like an ideal mix between Al Green and Tracy Chapman, Otis Redding and Richie Havens, making soul, R'n'B and folk music meet just like Ben Harper or Keziah Jones did.

But what makes this artist even more unique is a rare capacity to touch people, to put across strong feelings with candid simplicity.

After a first signature on a major recording cie, numerous performances in France (Olympia, French festivals such as Printemps de Bourges, major Parisian venues) and opening shows for international artists (Youssou N'Dour, Asa, Daby Touré, etc.), the first album of Oumar Thiam - currently produced by Jean Lamoot (Salif Keita, Nneka, Bashung, Pauline Croze, etc.) and Jean-Louis Solans, is expected to be released early 2010.

« Beware : this is love at first sight. An exceptionnal artist. A star is born. »

Jean-Luc Caradec, La Terrasse

« A striking presence, a deep and husky voice, refined melodies, it's the

winning cocktail... a very very beautiful discovery. » Christophe Richert, France Info
