An opera singer returns to her Argentine roots

Cecilia Parody (v) –  Francisco Gonzales (g)  – Regis Altmayer Henzien (g)

Loïc Gérard (dr, perc) – Pablo Pico (perc, clarinet)

After a career as a soprano which led her to the Milan Opera and Paris at the age of 20 where she worked as a soloist with a number of orchestras (Orchestra et Maîtrise of Radio France, Orchestral Ensemble of Paris, Orchestra Colonne, Orchestra of Haute Normandie, Symphonic Orchestra of Tours…) Parody began writing her own music inspired by her native Argentina.

It’s not even a question of reinventing Argentine folk music, but rather imagining a style of music that’s rich and sophisticated but also popular. Though established in the past, it still aims for new horizons and follows the path least traveled. She has created her own personal style but still with a familiar accent; Argentine rhythms support soprano melodies, sometimes agitated and carnal, sometimes so unreal they sound almost celestial.

Indefinable, delicate, her music mixes European rhythms from the colonial period with those indigenous to Argentina, traditional and nostalgic, but always keeping in mind the contribution of modern rhythms. Hence, Cecilia Parody shows us that folk music can be a great source of something modern and that nothing is more alive than those musical forms, handed down to us using the genius of our own time. An impassioned ride on the soil of a recreated Argentina.

First album to be released early 2008.
